The audio-visual movie is based around a short storyline of a final competition on leadership between a young man and a young woman. The contest focuses on five crucial decisions made by Ben-Gurion which shaped the history of the State and Israeli society.
Each decision is built in a similar fashion:
- Short historical background
- Presentation of the formative decision
- Different decisions- posed by explanatory words or by historical advisors integrated within the movie
- The choice made by Ben-Gurion
- The significance of the decision
The first decision: MASS ALIYA
Ben-Gurion's decision on unlimited, mass aliya despite the dangers and difficulties – the overcrowding in the transit camps, the lacking logistical infrastructure, the lack of employment
The second decision: STATE AND RELIGION
Ben-Gurion's decision on the status quo agreement, a decision which promised the existence of the state of the whole Jewish people, and, determined the character of the State as a Jewish one.
The third decision: BUILDING AN AUTHORATIVE FORCE
The decision emphasizes the transfer from a society based on volunteering to an official society. The change from a settlement to a state and the incorporation of all the defending forces to one army, (the Altalena episode)
